Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Active Texas RN License or Multi-State Compact RN License
  • BLS Certification
  • ACLS Certification
  • Minimum 1 year of CVOR nursing experience in an acute care setting
  • Experience in cardiovascular surgery, operating room nursing, surgical services, or cardiac procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced Operating Room RN with 3+ years of acute care OR experience
  • Willingness to complete cardiovascular operating room cross-training
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • CNOR Certification
  • Advanced cardiovascular surgical experience
  • Hybrid vascular OR experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care for cardiovascular and vascular surgical patients throughout the perioperative process.
  • Maintain sterile technique and ensure adherence to infection prevention standards.
  • Prepare patients and operating rooms for cardiovascular surgical procedures.
  • Conduct preoperative patient assessments and verify procedural readiness.
  • Participate in surgical time-outs and patient safety initiatives.
  • Assist surgeons and perioperative team members during cardiac and vascular procedures.
  • Monitor patient status and advocate for patient safety throughout the surgical experience.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, perfusionists, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for perioperative staff.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and departmental performance goals.
