About The Position

A leading acute care hospital in Newark, Delaware is seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Registered Nurse to join its Open Heart Team. This role is ideal for a highly skilled Operating Room RN with strong cardiac and open-heart surgical experience who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care in a high-acuity, collaborative surgical environment. The selected candidate will work alongside a dedicated cardiovascular surgical team focused on clinical excellence, innovation, and continuous professional growth.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required
• Minimum 3 years of Operating Room nursing experience required
• Strong CVOR / Open Heart surgical experience required
• Excellent critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills
• Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity surgical environment

Nice To Haves

• BSN preferred (or willingness to obtain within 3 years, if applicable)

Responsibilities

• Provide direct perioperative nursing care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room
• Support complex cardiac and open-heart surgical procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and interdisciplinary teams
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure patient safety throughout surgical procedures
• Monitor and document patient status during operative interventions
• Participate in Open Heart call rotation as required
• Contribute to quality improvement and clinical excellence initiatives
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care to patients and families
