About The Position

This position provides an array of services to assist individuals and families cope with complicated mental health situations in the most effective way possible, thereby achieving a better quality of life. Through a collaborative process with clients and other team members, the Clinical Intern will provide mental health counseling and/or clinical case management services based on clients’ goals and needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Must be enrolled in a graduate program that Valley Cities has an affiliation with or is able to obtain an affiliation with prior to internship.
  • Must have completed at least one year of a graduate level program or the equivalent (e.g., is in an advanced standing one-year graduate program)
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of professionals and a diverse client population.
  • Ability to employ person-centered, culturally relevant approaches that address individualized needs and goals of the client.
  • Ability to maintain strong professional boundaries.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and feedback.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Pass required background checks.
  • Must be available to work at least twice a week or 16+ hours a week.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a member of a clinical treatment team in coordinating mental health interventions with other team members for assigned clients.
  • Attend scheduled agency staff meetings and training.
  • Attend agency and program training to meet required annual standards of training for WAC and professional affiliations.
  • Participate in clinical and administrative supervision at least once a week.
  • Plan weekly schedule and vacations in collaboration with another staff members to ensure adequate coverage and quality service delivery.
  • Demonstrates reliable and consistent attendance.
  • Complete paperwork, including progress notes and treatment plan updates as required by WAC, Medicaid, and other contracts.
