The advanced practice clinician (Acute Care Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant) within the acute care hospital setting works in collaboration with, and is an integral member of, a multidisciplinary health care team. They also prescribe diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions, potentially performing advanced procedures. The role requires maintaining ongoing communication and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, facilitating communication with patients and families, and documenting patient progress in the medical record according to compliance standards.
