About The Position
The Cardiovascular Tech (CVT) plays a vital role in the cardiovascular laboratories, assisting healthcare providers in the diagnosis and treatment of serious and complex cardiovascular conditions. This role requires flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, procedures, and technologies, and demonstrates the ability to think critically, problem-solve, and make sound decisions under pressure. After adequate training, the technician will be required to work varied hours, shift lengths and respond to an on-call pager which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends. This vacancy is not eligible for sponsorship, and Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
Requirements
- Post-secondary diploma in health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing) with 3 years of patient care experience.
- Associate’s degree in health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing field) with 2 years of patient care experience.
- Bachelor or greater degree in health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing related field) with 1 year of patient care experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Actively working towards becoming a certified Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) within 18 months of hire.
- If Rad Tech (RT), must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and have cardiac interventional (CI) credentials within 18 months of hire.

- At least one year of vascular or cardiovascular lab experience.
Responsibilities
- Assisting in the scrub and circulating roles during the procedure.
- Preparing and maintaining a variety of specialized equipment.
- Providing excellent patient care before, during, and after the procedure.
- Collaborating and communicating effectively with the care team.
- Adhering to all regulatory requirements, safety protocols, infection control practices, and patient confidentiality.
- Proficient in pediatric, adult, and congenital specialty procedures within their assigned lab.
- Performing structural procedures and hemodynamics such as coronary spasm studies, TAVR, and peripheral procedures within the Cath Lab.
- Performing left bundle branch pacing, OR device extractions, and hybrid ablations within the Heart Rhythm Services Lab.
- Adapting to changing priorities, procedures, and technologies.
- Thinking critically, problem-solving, and making sound decisions under pressure.
- Working varied hours, shift lengths, and responding to an on-call pager (days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends) after adequate training.
