Safely operates forklift to transport raw materials, product and supplies in the cutting department. Essential Functions Completes Pre-Operational Checklist each day before operating lift. Reports all forklift damage or malfunction to supervisor. Operates forklift always at a reasonable and prudent speed, watching closely for pedestrians or other motorized vehicles. Safely operates forklift to transport raw materials or supplies. Maintains proper volume of product in wet hopper at all times. Dumps product in wet hopper. Checks wet hopper for foreign objects after each box of product is dumped. Removes foreign objects from the wet hopper. When moving cardboard boxes of product, must hook safety chain on cardboard dumper to bolt on forklift. After dumping product, must remove safety chain from forklift. Documents supplier of product for traceability. Sets up washer, vibrator and hopper. Makes sure all machinery in work area is running properly (incoming conveyor to hopper). Reports problems to Supervisor. Fills wet hoppers with water or brine at the beginning of the work shift and regulates the flow of product going into the plant. Verifies that quality of product is acceptable; notifies supervisor of questionable product. Follows safety rules and company policies. Other duties Unstops pumps at wet hopper. Operates small weigh scales to weigh all product that is used in production. Record weights on tally sheet. Safely operates motorized pallet jack as needed. Inspects and cleans brush washer. Keeps work area clean and tidy. Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate. Receives written instructions from packing schedule or verbal instructions from supervisor on above tasks and performs other work as directed by supervisor.
