About The Position

Gemini is looking for a Cut-Out Fabricator to join the team at our location in Neustadt, ON! This position is responsible for working under general supervision, performing a variety of layout, editing, cutting, milling and finishing procedures required for the fabrication of flat cut-out letters. Requirements

• Must be able to understand and use multiple different machine interfaces to start programs on different machines, including but not limited to Amada lasers, Haas mills, and Flow waterjets.
• Understands and uses the correct PPE for the department. Must be able to lift up to 50 LBS regularly.
• Must be Forklift certified.
• Must be Quattro lift certified.
• Requires some level of mechanical aptitude, including the ability to understand complex mechanical systems, diagnose equipment malfunctions, perform adjustments and repairs, and support preventive maintenance activities on lasers, waterjets, and milling equipment.
• Ability to perform all Preventative Maintenance needed on all equipment in the area. Including lasers, water jets and Haas mill, weir system cleaning and filter changing.
• Secondary School education or CAEC

Responsibilities

• Must be able to understand and use multiple different machine interfaces to start programs on different machines, including but not limited to Amada lasers, Haas mills, and Flow waterjets.
• Understands and uses the correct PPE for the department. Must be able to lift up to 50 LBS regularly.
• Reviews production orders to insure familiarity with job requirements.
• Receives and opens artwork via OnBase and Carveco.
• Checking artwork with the appropriate software as needed and communicates with layouts/sales on discrepancies between art proof and pick ticket.
• Determines the cutting paths and sequence of operations using software provided. Maximizes material usage through placement of artwork on the raw material sheets.
• Programs the cutting equipment with the correct cutting parameters to include feed rates, depth of cut, number of passes, cutting tool size, etc.
• Sets up the cutting equipment with correct material.
• Operate Rhino Hammer to remove letters from sheets on laser.
• Must be able to problem solve machine issues and rectify them.
• Cleans and changes lens protectors.
• Rebuilds head unit on laser when necessary and re-installs.
• Finishes product by filing, sanding, buffing, polishing, drilling, tapping and other processes to complete the order requirements.
• Maintains a complete and orderly file of all artwork used.
• Assures that materials are ready and available, and reports to supervisor when materials are needed. Keeps an accurate inventory of materials daily.
• Places incoming materials in appropriate storage areas when received
• Maintains an awareness of how process improvements can be achieved and makes related recommendations to the department supervisor.
• Completes records of department production including waste materials and units produced.
• Performs duties in a safe manner and always follows all approved safety procedures.
• Always maintains the department in a neat and orderly manner.
• Maintains a positive working relationship with fellow employees and superiors.
• May perform reasonably similar and related duties as assigned and instructed.
