About The Position

Microwave Techniques’ Components Division in Gorham, Maine, is seeking an experienced Cut Off Operator. This is a full-time, on-site day-shift position at the Gorham facility, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The Cut Off Operator alters materials according to customer specifications and supplies them to Production. The role sets up and operates metal-sawing machines to cut metal stock to specified dimensions, measures work for conformance, and maintains accurate information in the inventory system.

Requirements

• Knowledge of safe working practices and safe machine operation.
• Experience with measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
• Experience with various metals and plastics.
• Technical aptitude and math skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with production deadlines.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, and kneel for long periods.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and activities.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Alter materials according to customer specifications and supply them to Production.
• Set up and operate metal-sawing machines, including bandsaws, circular saws, and abrasive saws, to cut metal stock to dimensions.
• Read job orders for material, stock type and size, and cutting dimensions.
• Measure work using tools such as tape measures, calipers, height gauges, and protractors to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Maintain accurate information in the inventory system.
