They are seeking a Customs Entry Writer who possesses key skills and experience in international import transportation, excellent organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, and knowledge to produce accurate workflow in a fast-paced, high-pressure freight forwarding operations environment, while positively contributing to the team's success.

  • 1 to 2 years Previous experience with custom clearance in a brokerage department
  • Effective, clear, and concise verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated experience interacting, developing and maintaining customer relationships
  • Proven strong business acumen
  • Proven success in an improving quality, service, safety and client relationship in a fast-paced high-pressure setting
  • Ability to understand any and all safety requirements and regulations (OSHA)
  • Ability to pass all TSA background requirements
  • Knowledge of Cargowise software
  • Knowledge of ISF filing
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications
  • Fluency in English
  • Must pass criminal background check
  • Ability to work flexible hours according to business needs
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex data
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • High school diploma / GED

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks safely
  • Ensure area housekeeping requirements are met

  • Meet established procedures and productivity, safety and quality standards
  • Meet attendance & punctuality standards
  • Communicate both orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
  • Investigate and plan the most appropriate route for a shipment, taking into account the nature of the goods, cost, transit time and security
  • Obtain, check and/or prepare all transportation documentation to meet Customs and insurance requirements, packing specifications, and compliance with local and international regulations
  • Liaise with third parties to move goods (by road, rail, air or sea) in accordance with customer requirements
  • Coordinate US Customs Brokerage to guide the freight efficiently through complex procedures import procedures
  • Work closely with customers, colleagues and third parties to ensure smooth operations to deadlines
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation, political situations and other factors that could affect the movement of freight
  • Perform other duties as assigned
