About The Position

We are currently looking to fill a full-time, permanent position for a Customs Coordinator in our Logistics department at our Leamington office. This position works in an office setting in a collaborative team environment. Working with minimal supervision during the day but also communicating with different individuals and teams across our facilities and from external organizations. Office setting with some– sitting, standing, walking.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of previous experience in a Logistics environment is preferred.
  • 1+ years working experience/knowledge of Canadian and US customs regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) is essential.
  • Very high degree of confidentiality and integrity required regarding all aspects of the business.
  • Good interpersonal skills: ability to work collaboratively on cross-functional teams and external parties.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Available Monday through Saturday – hours will fluctuate according to business needs.
  • Must be able to work remotely as needed, including on weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation considered an asset.
  • Possessing a general knowledge of warehouse operational processes is an asset.
  • Experience with NAV based ERP, TMS (Truck Management System) and Willson (Broker System) are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all international imports and exports, including, but not limited to customs systems input and clearance.
  • Monitor customs accepted/released status’ and ensure all entries are released by CBP and FDA before delivering to customers.
  • Meet legal compliance requirements for all documentation and ensure it is completed according to customer requirements in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Gather information and respond to any and all requests for information from government and customs agencies and/or customs brokers.
  • Manage product database (produce & dry goods) in the custom brokers portal, including the accurate identification and classification of tariff codes for each product.
  • Communicate in a prompt and professional manner with customs brokers, carriers/brokers, and internal team members.
  • Obtain the required documents from each party at different points of each shipment.
  • Coordinate the preparation and clearance of all cross-border shipments (CAN/US, US/CAN & MX/US), while ensuring timely clearance of all shipments.
  • Request and schedule all delivery appointments for customer deliveries.
  • Manage, track and trace freight updates in the company TMS system.
  • Investigate and resolve shipment/delivery issues that may occur.
  • Willing to help in a collaborative team atmosphere when other team members are away or in need of assistance.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as copying, filing, faxing, and scanning documents.
  • Must comply with all Health and Safety, Food Safety, Bio Security, and Nature Fresh Policies and Procedures.
