By providing structure and coordination of key processes and critical information across the company’s global Supply Chain, the team delivers results which improve profitability, optimize costs, and increase efficiencies. The Manager Customs & Trade role is accountable for ensuring ESI’s dispersed operating units are compliant with all applicable customs and trade regulations. Success in this position will be largely predicated on the employee’s ability to stay “ahead of the curve” and lead a culture of proactive planning as opposed to reactive response.

Requirements

  • Degree in international Trade, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in customs management or a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of customs regulations and procedures.
  • Strong experience in auditing, process improvement, and project management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in customs software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Primary point of contact and interface with customs authorities for both import and export.
  • Handle US Customs related internal requests.
  • Provide Customs audit support and audit documentation as required.
  • Implement Global Trade Compliance recommendations as required.
  • Responsible for management of global import brokerage.
  • Focus will be on working with ESI Supply Chain and Logistics to reduce and consolidate the number of import brokers used.
  • Develop and communicate standard operating procedures and KPIs with brokers.
  • Manage Classification process completed by Descartes classification team.
  • Develop classification procedures to improve accuracy, efficiency and global consistency.
  • Develop reporting process for summarizing ESI global import values and duty spend.
  • Assist with deploying and managing a compliance framework and procedures that will be followed by import and export managers at the business/site level.
  • Assign resources to be trained.
  • Implement processes and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Identify risk areas for further training.
  • Assist Global Trade Compliance directors with identifying saving opportunities and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop productive working relationships with all relevant regulatory entities and external administrators assigned to ESI.
  • Partner with logistics managers at the sites to ensure that strategic and operational metrics are in-line with best practices.
  • Partner with sourcing and purchasing managers at all levels to communicate tariff impacts for new products and solutions
  • Ensure that all customs practitioners at ESI have access to the latest regulatory, research, advisory, and best practices resources.
  • Ensure that recordkeeping requirements for imports and exports are fulfilled by ESI entities.
