Customized Rate Technical Consultant
About The Position
The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) is seeking a highly motivated and autonomous individual to serve as a Customized Rate Technical Consultant. This position supports the Waiver Customized Rate team and is responsible for conducting assessments of customized rate waiver funding requests to assist in determining eligibility. Onsite assessments may include, but is not limited to, review of individual support plans, service authorizations, medical and behavioral data, staffing schedules and program budgets. This position provides recommendations in resolving barriers through the exploration of all available community, waiver, and natural resources, and provides appropriate alternatives to service providers, such as the implementation of needed training, technical assistance, and referrals to services such as REACH, occupational/physical therapy, or therapeutic consultation. This position also communicates the results of their assessments to the customized rate review committee, case managers, service providers, Department of Medical Assistance Service (DMAS) appeals department and leadership. This position is responsible for working with service providers to schedule onsite assessments across the state of Virginia and requires up to 75% travel. A valid, unrestricted driver’s license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Commonwealth’s Driver Safety Program are required.
Requirements
- Knowledge of the Developmental Disability Service Program, including services and support options, support levels and tiers, Supports Intensity Scale (SIS©), reimbursement rates, licensing and human rights regulations, and best practices in developmental disability services.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments independently.
- Ability to use a range of computer programs and database applications such as Word, Excel, and the Waiver Management System (WaMS).
- Knowledge of the support needs of people with disabilities (physical, cognitive, emotional).
- Strong negotiation and problem resolution techniques.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work with a variety of professionals in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- A valid, unrestricted driver’s license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Commonwealth’s Driver Safety Program.
