About The Position

The City of Cedar Hill is seeking a part-time Customer Technology Specialist to join their Library team. This role is responsible for supporting and providing technology-focused premier customer service to library patrons and staff. The position involves maintaining and troubleshooting library technology and equipment, and directly reports to and works in partnership with the Library Systems Supervisor. The ideal candidate will collaborate with other staff and volunteers to ensure a high-functioning library and will not provide direction to other employees. This role requires weekday availability Monday through Friday, with flexibility to work Saturdays, offering a consistent schedule of approximately 20 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.
  • Knowledge of hardware, software and peripheral equipment maintenance, repair, setup modification and troubleshooting methods, practices and procedures.
  • At least one year of technology-related customer service experience is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college level coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides premier customer service to internal and external customers by responding to requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist library patrons by answering questions and providing technical assistance, database retrieval and research and performing library essential functions.
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining assigned areas.
  • Assist with audio visual, makerspace and recording studio programming.
  • Assists in maintaining inventory, software updates, and technology development for future growth.
  • Stays abreast of and attends available technology training.
  • Assists with overall library operations and facilities by assisting and collaborating with other staff to maintain a high functioning library.
  • Assist in the setup and installation of library systems and programs.
  • Quickly and accurately process multiple types of information and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Regular attendance required, including evenings, weekends and special events, as needed.
