About The Position

Hydro Aluminium Metal is hiring a Customer Technical Support, Senior Engineer to promote technical sales and marketing of value-added Hydro metals, with the goal of increasing margin and volume. The role supports customer development and growth by delivering customer technical support, with a focus on recycled, greener, and more sustainable products. The position may be based in Casopolis, MI; Henderson, KY; or remotely. The salary range is $150,000–$160,000. The engineer will execute technical service programs for customers and help establish Hydro Aluminum Metals NA as the preferred supplier for value-added and regular high-quality metal needs. The role involves partnering with sales, customers, and production units to address technical and metallurgical matters, develop alloy and product opportunities, maintain product quality, and resolve claims and complaints. The role also supports customer- and market-driven R&D and participates in industry and technical forums. Requirements

Master’s degree or doctorate from an accredited university.
Background in material science or metallurgy.
Willingness to travel as required to support customers; expected travel is a minimum of 30–50%.

Nice To Haves

At least 5 years of experience in the aluminum extrusion industry is desirable.
Strong background in aluminum casting and/or extrusion processes and operations.
Knowledge of alloys for automotive applications and OEM qualification and production requirements.
Strong technical and scientific skills related to the science and technology of aluminum processing.
Close adherence to best practices and strong attention to detail.
Wide-ranging communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with people from shop-floor employees to senior management or owners.
High level of professionalism, drive, and enthusiasm.
Ability to work according to Hydro culture and values.

Responsibilities

Promote technical sales and marketing of value-added Hydro metals to increase margin and volume.
Support customers’ development and growth by providing customer technical support, particularly for recycled, greener, and more sustainable products.
Execute technical services programs for customers to help make Hydro Aluminum Metals NA their preferred supplier for value-added and regular high-quality metal needs.
Proactively engage customers and support sales in identifying solutions that increase volume or margins, including new or optimized alloy needs and new opportunities or products.
Plan and execute customer technical support programs with the head of CTS and sales managers.
Assist the sales team with technical expertise.
Provide extensive support to customers on metallurgical matters and other technical issues.
Communicate customer needs and requirements to production units and cast houses.
Support cast houses on customer product requirements, continuous improvements, new product offerings, product quality, and market quality demands.
Manage and resolve customer claims and complaints.
Use AMBS processes and procedures when executing activities.
Define and follow up on R&D projects, ensuring customer- and market-driven programs are executed.
Participate actively in industry and technical forums to influence the agenda.
