About The Position

Spotfire is a business unit of Cloud Software Group, a major enterprise software company. Spotfire integrates visualizations and advanced analytics to enable experts to find industry-specific solutions. The global Customer Success team is crucial to the company's strategy, focusing on customers, innovation, and the community of scientists, engineers, and data scientists. This team guides customers in adopting and maximizing the value of their Spotfire investment. Customer Success Data Scientists operate across various sectors, contributing to improvements in energy drilling operations, semiconductor yield, and logistics. The company is seeking a Senior Customer Success Data Scientist for the North America region, preferably in California or the US West Region (Arizona, Oregon, Washington). This role is ideal for someone with expertise in High Tech Manufacturing, a passion for Industrial AI and Analytics, and Visual Data Science. The individual will be a key driver of long-term customer success for a client portfolio, aiming for high adoption, retention, and satisfaction. They will act as a trusted advisor to customer stakeholders and a liaison between customers and internal Spotfire teams. The role involves leveraging hands-on skills and thought leadership to enhance customer analytical capabilities using Spotfire, developing analytical deliverables using methods from exploratory analytics to machine learning, statistical modeling, and AI. The position is within a collaborative team, delivering outcomes that improve both product and account health, with opportunities to represent Spotfire at industry events and contribute to the customer and partner community.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of data science experience using software environments and programming languages e.g. Spotfire, Tableau, Qlikview, JMP, KNIME, Dataiku, Azure, AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, and for program languages Python, R.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in advanced data analytics and delivery of demonstrations, projects, engagements or deployed software applications.
  • 3-5+ years of experience applying advanced analytics such as machine learning and optimization techniques to large, complex and disparate data sources.
  • 3-5+ years of Industry experience in applying analytics to sector-specific data problems in key Industries such as Manufacturing, Energy, Transportation & Logistics and Life Sciences.
  • Ability to formulate a real-world problem into a mathematical equivalent, propose various solutions, compare and contrast them, deploy the solutions, validate the results and present the results to stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to proactively influence and cultivate long-term relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as customers' senior technical personnel.
  • Ability to provide compelling software demonstrations and apply domain knowledge to analytical applications, communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences using storytelling.
  • Collaboration skills - strong ability to work effectively in an internal and customer team environment and to manage multiple projects to a good final outcome.
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, Science, or related analytical field of study with graduate classes in statistics and data mining.
  • Proficiency in English is required.
  • Must have full working rights for the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with other software components for data preparation and integration e.g. Data Virtualization is a plus.
  • Knowledge of SQL, .Net, Java, IronPython, Javascript, C++ is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Generative AI is a plus.
  • Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Strategy: Use Spotfire and data science skills to collaborate with customers, translating their business objectives into actionable success plans. Develop a deep understanding of industry analytics use cases. Customer Success plans include onboarding, adoption, monitoring support, managing upgrades, enabling new features, and establishing a center of excellence.
  • Trusted Advisor: Be aware of industry context and understand customer needs through regular customer health assessments to build consultative relationships and act as a trusted advisor, helping navigate challenges and building long-term customer advocacy.
  • Innovation: Perform and guide R&D topics in applied machine learning and AI. Translate customer business goals into technical objectives and help create custom solutions for industry use cases, providing guidance, and building prototypes. Projects include Large Language Models, digital twin, anomaly detection in time series, or mathematical modeling of manufacturing processes.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with sales, support, product management, and engineering to align and support strategy, improve customer outcomes, help resolve escalations, find sales opportunities, and provide product roadmap input. This involves gathering and sharing detailed information, analysis, and investigation to address numerous, often undefined, problems and requests.
  • Education and Community: Actively engage with customers in the Spotfire community to drive adoption and enablement. Contribute relevant industry and data science content. Represent the team in industry events and external conferences.
  • Personal Development: Continue to develop expertise and monitor trends in industry analytics and visual data science tools and techniques.
  • Organizational Impact: Work to achieve operational targets with major impact on departmental results, with limited supervision.
  • Leadership and Talent Management: Involve coaching and training of other employees within the job area.
