About The Position

This is a responsible professional position involved in interviewing customers and employer contact within a CareerSource Center service area. The role involves interviewing and assessing customer needs, providing services or referrals, evaluating education, training, and experience for system registration, and assisting customers with computer systems like Employ Florida and Florida’s CONNECT for Reemployment Assistance claimants. Responsibilities include screening and referring applicants to job openings and training, performing job development, providing labor market information, offering employment counseling, and referring to testing or supportive services. The position also involves follow-up services for claimants in the Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessments (RESEA) program and referring eligible individuals to appropriate staff for comprehensive assessment. Additionally, the role includes processing job orders, compiling job descriptions, coding occupations and industries, performing file searches for qualified applicants, monitoring job orders, maintaining employer contact, and verifying referral results. The Customer Service Specialist will also provide RESEA services on a scheduled basis, ensuring timely notification to applicants, and entering data into the Employ Florida system. The role may also involve follow-up with RESEA program participants. Furthermore, the position entails making initial contact with eligible trade-affected individuals, reviewing applications, collecting documentation, assessing eligibility for services, and referring individuals for comprehensive assessment. Assistance may be provided in gathering information for Trade Adjustment Allowance (TAA) Information Meetings for trade-affected workers.

  • Must become certified as a Workforce Development professional (Tier 1), within 60 days of appointment to this position.
  • Required to travel locally and must furnish own transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Interview and conduct an initial assessment of customer needs and provide services or referrals as appropriate.
  • Evaluate education, training, and experience to properly register applicants in computer systems.
  • Provide instructions and assistance to customers utilizing the Employ Florida system, Florida’s CONNECT system for Reemployment Assistance (RA) claimants, and other computer data and programs.
  • Screen and refer applicants to available job openings and/or training opportunities.
  • Perform job development contacts.
  • Provide labor market information.
  • Provide employment counseling as appropriate.
  • Refer to testing and/or other supportive services as appropriate.
  • Provide follow-up services to claimants enrolled in the Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessments (RESEA) program.
  • Refer eligible individuals to appropriate staff for comprehensive assessment, as needed.
  • Process job orders using information obtained from employers to compile job descriptions.
  • Accurately code each occupation and industry.
  • Perform file search of job orders for qualified applicants adhering to veterans preference and mandated Federal Contractor requirements.
  • Monitor job orders, maintain timely contact with employers to perform follow-up and verify referral results with employers to document on job orders.
  • Provide Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessments (RESEA) on a scheduled basis.
  • Ensure applicants have at least ten (10) days’ notice of their scheduled RESEA appointment date.
  • Enter data into the Employ Florida system timely as required by State and local guidelines.
  • Assist with follow up with participants enrolled in the RESEA program.
  • Make initial contact with eligible trade-affected individuals whose employment has been threatened and who have been temporarily or permanently laid off.
  • Review application, collect appropriate documentation needed to verify data elements.
  • Conduct an initial assessment of the workers eligibility for services by reviewing work experience, education and abilities.
  • Refer eligible individuals to appropriate staff for comprehensive assessment.
  • Assist staff in pulling together information needed to conduct a Trade Adjustment Allowance (TAA) Information Meeting for trade-affected workers who are covered under a certified petition.
