About The Position

Bay Disposal is looking for a High Energy Customer Service Representative to join the team at our Hauling location in Norfolk, VA. This is an advanced customer service role. The position involves interacting with customers and Waste Connections employees to determine service requirements and resolve problems or complaints. It requires working in a fast-paced, cooperative, high call volume environment, and soliciting the sale of new or additional services. The role also involves working in conjunction with other departments to resolve customer disputes and demonstrating proficiency in proprietary operational systems. A typical schedule for this position is 8am-5pm Monday-Friday.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of Customer Service experience in a high call volume atmosphere required.
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, and Email required.
  • Typing and 10-key skills are required.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews customers and records interview information into computer for customer service.
  • Talks with customers by phone and in person, to receive orders for installation, turn on, discontinuance, or change in service.
  • Fills out contract forms, determines charges for service requested, collects deposits, prepares change of address records and issues discontinuance orders.
  • Demonstrates effective use of software applications, at a minimum MS Word and Excel proficient.
  • Delivers services to customers in a manner that promotes goodwill.
  • Interacts with customers and Waste Connections employees to determine service requirements and resolve problems or complaints.
  • Works in a fast paced, cooperative, high call volume environment.
  • Solicits sale of new or additional services.
  • Works in conjunction with other departments to resolve customer disputes.
  • Demonstrates the ability to become proficient in the use of proprietary operational systems.
  • Gathers data, compiles information, and prepares reports.
