About The Position

Marine Systems, Inc. is hiring a Customer Service Representative / Counter Salesperson in our Belle Chasse, LA location. This role involves processing customer requests, managing orders, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Requirements

High School or better.
Less than 3 years of experience in the field or related area.
Ability to read technical manuals.
Ability to interpret exploded diagrams of mechanical assemblies.
Ability to troubleshoot and identify complex mechanical problems.
Demonstrate interpersonal skills necessary to maintain motivation and confidence among employees and customers.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Oracle.

Forklift training may be required.

Responsibilities

Processes requests for quotes and informs customers of unit prices, shipping dates, anticipated delays, and other necessary information.
Ascertains and verifies customer credit ratings and applies them to quotations or orders.
Enters customer counter/customer service orders and distributes copies as required.
Computes price, discount, and shipping charges.
Initiates purchase requisitions.
Informs purchasing of the need to satisfy back orders or orders requiring special attention.
Confers with various departments (production, sales, shipping, warehouse, common carrier) to expedite or trace shipments.
Follows up on orders to ensure timely delivery.
Recommends appropriate packing or labeling for orders.
Resolves customer complaints within the scope of authority.
Enters ordered parts on sales orders and prints pick tickets.
May require forklift training.
Develops relationships with coworkers to understand safety processes and culture.
Influences safety by evaluating performance, participating in safety meetings, identifying areas for improvement, and developing initiatives.
Maintains thorough knowledge of the Safe Work Policy.
