About The Position

Ascension IL Presence St. Joseph Chicago is seeking a Customer Service Representative for Patient Registration, working 32 hours per week. R1, a leading provider of technology-driven solutions for the healthcare industry, is looking for individuals to join their mission-driven team. As a Customer Service Representative, you will be the first point of contact for patients during the hospital check-in process. This role offers comprehensive training, making it an excellent entry point into a healthcare career, even without prior experience. The position involves assisting patients with registration, answering questions with clarity and compassion, gathering accurate information in a fast-paced environment, and building trust with patients during potentially stressful times.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong customer service experience
  • Ability to pass background check, drug test, and meet vaccination requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Medical or healthcare experience (but not required!)

Responsibilities

  • Help patients navigate the registration process
  • Answer questions with confidence, clarity, and compassion
  • Gather accurate information quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Build trust with patients during moments when they may be scared, confused, or overwhelmed
  • Work across multiple computer systems to register patients efficiently
  • Answer phones and gather information quickly and accurately
  • Assist patients who may be ill, anxious, or confused
  • Navigate diverse insurance plans and coverage details (with training!)
  • Adapt to interruptions from clinical teams during urgent care situations
  • Build rapport and ease patient concerns in real time
