About The Position

Ascension IL Presence St. Joseph Chicago is seeking a Customer Service Representative for Patient Registration, working 32 hours per week. R1, a leading provider of technology-driven solutions for the healthcare industry, is looking for individuals to join their mission-driven team. This role involves being the first point of contact for patients checking into the hospital, assisting them with the registration process, answering questions with confidence and compassion, and gathering accurate information in a fast-paced environment. No prior healthcare background is necessary, as comprehensive training will be provided, making this role an excellent starting point for a career in healthcare.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong customer service experience
  • Ability to pass background check, drug test, and meet vaccination requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Medical or healthcare experience (but not required!)

Responsibilities

  • Help patients navigate the registration process
  • Answer questions with confidence, clarity, and compassion
  • Gather accurate information quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Build trust with patients during moments when they may be scared, confused, or overwhelmed
  • Work across multiple computer systems to register patients efficiently
  • Answer phones and gather information quickly and accurately
  • Assist patients who may be ill, anxious, or confused
  • Navigate diverse insurance plans and coverage details (with training!)
  • Adapt to interruptions from clinical teams during urgent care situations
  • Build rapport and ease patient concerns in real time
