About The Position

The Customer Service Representative - Stony Brook CPMP Patient Accounts role is a full-time position located in East Setauket, NY. This role may be eligible for remote work at the manager's discretion and is only available to New York State Residents. The position involves accurately and efficiently answering patient appointments and scheduling them. It requires strong problem-solving and analytical skills, high ethical standards, and the ability to be self-directed, self-motivated, and multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with high productivity and accuracy.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Three (3) years of customer service/call center experience. In lieu of this requirement, will accept two years of medical billing related experience or graduation from a medical billing program.
  • Must have excellent expressive and written communication skills
  • Must be highly organized
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Heavy telephone experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Computer literate with knowledge of medical insurance policies, reimbursement and medical terminology.
  • Experience with insurance websites.

Responsibilities

  • Review various EMRs to review notes, insurance and form folders to assist in resolving patient inquiries.
  • Conduct insurance verification.
  • Handle high volume of patient telephone calls.
  • Provide customer service to patients.
  • Demonstrate courteous and professional behavior when dealing with patients.
  • Document and take appropriate action for all telephone calls in billing system.
  • Resolve patient inquiries or escalate for solution.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
