About The Position

The Customer Service Representative (CSR): Foster is responsible for supporting the Foster Program at the Ottawa Humane Society (OHS). This role involves matching animals with foster volunteers, monitoring their health and well-being, providing medical support, and coordinating appointments. The CSR will also assist with volunteer recognition and retention, provide feedback on volunteer performance, and maintain data integrity in OHS systems. Additionally, the position requires supporting coworkers and students, understanding relevant legislation and OHS policies, producing reports, and participating in meetings and professional development. The role may involve assuming some responsibilities of the Supervisor: Foster and representing the OHS professionally in public relations and promotional activities.

Requirements

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent
  • Assistant Veterinary Technician certificate, a minimum of one year relevant clinical experience, or a combination thereof
  • Minimum of one year experience in customer service
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Professional working proficiency in spoken and written English is required

  • Experience working closely with, and supporting, volunteers is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Match animals requiring foster care to the appropriate volunteer
  • Monitor the health and well-being of animals placed in foster
  • Support foster volunteers during animal placements
  • Provide prescribed treatments and other medical interventions for foster animals
  • Maintain foster animal holding areas, facilities, and equipment
  • Coordinate appointments for the health requirements of fostered animals
  • Assist with volunteer recognition and retention programs and activities
  • Provide appropriate feedback on the performance of foster volunteers
  • Enter and maintain data integrity in Raiser’s Edge and Chameleon
  • Support the activities of coworkers, volunteers, students and work placements and provide orientation and training as required
  • Be thoroughly familiar with pertinent legislation, regulations, guidelines, OHS policies, procedures, collective agreement, and good animal care practices
  • Produce and maintain accurate reports, records, and files
  • Participate in supervision, evaluation, training and other meetings as required
  • Participate in the identification and evaluation of OHS program goals and objectives
  • Participate in professional development opportunities
  • Represent the OHS in a professional manner
  • Participate in public relations and promotional activities as required
  • May be required to assume some of the responsibilities of the Supervisor: Foster
