About The Position

Didion Orf Recycling is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join their team as a Customer Service Representative/Buyer in Training. This role offers a career path with opportunities for growth and hands-on experience in assessing, purchasing, and managing scrap metal inventory while providing excellent customer service. The position requires a sales mindset, strong work ethic, and a desire to learn about the metals industry. The majority of the work will be performed outside or in a warehouse environment, and this role will serve as a leader in the customer drop-off department.

Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prior knowledge and/or strong interest in learning about scrap metal and the recycling industry is required.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
Basic math skills and computer proficiency.
A positive attitude and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

Some college coursework in business, logistics, or a related field is a plus.
Prior experience in sales and negotiations is preferred.

Responsibilities

Unloading metals and electronics from customer vehicles
Assist with purchasing scrap metal from customers.
Learn how to evaluate the quality and value of various metals through hands on work in our General Public drop off area.
Help maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory.
Provide excellent customer service and lead team in customer satisfaction initiatives.
Communicate with customers to educate on what we accept and what items we may recycle for the customer.
