About The Position

Under general supervision, the CSR 2 will perform a variety of customer service activities at the Ports of Entry/offices that do not require an AZ P.O.S.T certified peace officer. This role involves interpreting and communicating state and federal motor vehicle codes pertaining to size/weight for ESB Port Operations. Responsibilities may include screening and weighing commercial vehicles, examining vehicle registrations for authenticity, issuing permits, calculating and collecting fees and taxes, and completing cash reconciliations. The position is responsible for the security of cash receipts, information, and accountable forms. It regulates commercial vehicle traffic entering and exiting the State through permit issuance. The role involves continuous public contact, which may include dealing with irate individuals. The incumbent will be assigned to one of three shifts and may be rotated as necessary. Overnight travel may be required. A background check is required.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Police Department functions, organization, mission, procedures, objectives, policies, rules, and regulations, particularly those applicable to law enforcement.
  • Knowledge of practices of computer applications and software; Spillman Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) Records Management System (RMS), Query Analyzer, Livescan, and Armani.
  • Knowledge of Federal OSHA, State and County regulations and policies regarding safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) laws, Arizona Police Officer Standards and Training (AZ Post Rules), EPRO/Transport, the Arizona Management System, and all ADOT software used in Enforcement Services Bureau (ESB).
  • Skill in maintaining working relationships with other agency divisions, the public, employees, and contractors.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Answer various inquiries pertaining to motor vehicle administrative rules, regulations, federal and state statutes, policies and procedures.
  • Resolve customer issues, problems, and/or concerns.
  • Provide information to representatives of other states' motor carrier entities, transportation personnel, law enforcement agencies, T&R offices, and other governmental entities.
  • Provide motor carrier customer contact, follow-up, and information referral service relative to ECD Enforcement programs.
  • Issue applicable permits, route over-dimensional loads, and collect appropriate fees and taxes.
  • Reconcile cash receipts and prepare daily deposits.
  • Identify when enforcement action is required and refer the problem to an enforcement officer or supervisor.
  • Examine motor carrier vehicle registrations and related documents to determine authenticity.
  • Screen and weigh or assist with weighing commercial vehicles.
  • Calculate, collect appropriate fees and taxes, and complete associated cash reconciliations.
  • Regulate domestic and foreign-based commercial vehicle traffic entering and exiting the State through permit issuance.
