About The Position

Under general supervision, the CSR 2 will perform a variety of customer service activities at the Ports of Entry/offices that do not require an AZ P.O.S.T certified peace officer. This role involves interpreting and communicating state and federal motor vehicle codes pertaining to size/weight applicable to ESB Port Operations. Responsibilities may include screening and weighing commercial vehicles, examining vehicle registrations for authenticity, issuing permits, calculating and collecting fees and taxes, and completing cash reconciliations. The position is responsible for the security of cash receipts, information, and accountable forms. The CSR 2 regulates commercial vehicle traffic entering and exiting the State through permit issuance. This role involves continual public contact, which may include interactions with irate individuals. The incumbent will be assigned to one of three shifts and may be rotated as necessary. Overnight travel may be required. A background check is required.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Police Department functions, organization, mission, procedures, objectives, policies, rules and regulations particularly those applicable to law enforcement.
  • Knowledge of practices of computer applications and software; of Spillman Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) Records Management System (RMS), Query Analyzer, Livescan, and Armani.
  • Knowledge of Federal OSHA, State and County regulations and policies regarding safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) laws, Arizona Police Officer Standards and Training (AZ Post Rules), EPro/Transport, the Arizona Management System and all ADOT software used in Enforcement Services Bureau (ESB).
  • Skill in maintaining working relationships with other agency divisions, the public, employees and contractors.
  • Skill in strong math, critical thinking, research and complex analysis.
  • Skill in problem solving and conflict resolution, interpersonal and employee relations.
  • Skill in multi-tasking and time management of multiple and sometimes competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Skill in decision making; oral and written communication in the preparation of clear concise reports, correspondence and power point presentations.
  • Skill in Google Workspace programs.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret detailed, complex written material.
  • Ability to conduct research and compile findings; to handle a variety of complex, sensitive and confidential materials simultaneously.
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments and meet deadlines, resolve issues; be tactful but diplomatic.
  • Ability to remain professional under stress.

  • Must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license.
  • Must complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks.
  • Must maintain acceptable driving records.
  • Must complete all required driver training.
  • Shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance if operating a personally owned vehicle on state business.
  • Must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Nice To Haves

  • A weight master certification is preferred.
  • 2 or more years administrative and/or operations support experience meeting the KSAs.

Responsibilities

  • Answer various inquiries pertaining to motor vehicle administrative rules, regulations, federal and state statutes, policies and procedures.
  • Resolve customer issues, problems and/or concerns.
  • Provide information to representatives of other states motor carrier entities, transportation personnel, law enforcement agencies, T&R offices and other governmental entities.
  • Provide motor carrier customer contact, follow-up and information referral service relative to the ECD Enforcement programs.
  • Issue applicable permits, route over-dimensional loads and collect appropriate fees and taxes.
  • Reconcile cash receipts and prepare daily deposits.
  • Identify when enforcement action is required and refer the problem to an enforcement officer or supervisor.
  • Examine motor carrier vehicle registrations and related documents to determine authenticity.
