About The Position

This role involves operating equipment, stocking ingredients, preparing products, taking and processing telephone orders, and performing inventory and cleaning tasks. Training and orientation are provided on the job. Essential functions include accurate mathematical calculations, making correct change, strong verbal and written communication skills for order processing, and the ability to use a computer keyboard or touch screen for order entry. The work environment includes varying temperatures, exposure to food odors and cornmeal dust, and requires working in potentially cramped spaces. Sensory requirements include talking and hearing on the phone, near and mid-range vision, depth perception, and differentiating hot/cold surfaces. Temperaments suited for this role include the ability to direct activities, perform repetitive tasks, work alone or with others, work under stress, meet quality standards, deal with people, analyze data, and make judgments and decisions. Most tasks require standing and walking, with occasional sitting for paperwork. Lifting and carrying are involved with bulk deliveries and product preparation. Pushing and pulling are used for moving trays on dollies. Climbing stairs or ladders may be required infrequently. Stooping, bending, crouching, squatting, and reaching are performed continuously throughout various tasks.

Requirements

  • Ability to comprehend and give correct written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with customers and co-workers to process orders both over the phone and in person.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide accurately and quickly (may use calculator).
  • Must be able to make correct monetary change.
  • Verbal, writing, and telephone skills to take and process orders.
  • Motor coordination between eyes and hands/fingers to rapidly and accurately make precise movements with speed.
  • Ability to enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all equipment.
  • Stock ingredients from delivery area to storage, work area, walk-in cooler.
  • Prepare product.
  • Receive and process telephone orders.
  • Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
  • Clean equipment and facility approximately daily.
