About The Position

R1 is a leading provider of technology-driven solutions that transform the patient experience and financial performance of hospitals, health systems and medical groups. As a Customer Service Representative (Patient Registration), you will help patients check into the hospital. This is a fast-paced, high-volume department where you will be the primary point of contact for patients during registration, answering questions and collecting information accurately and quickly. You will also need to listen with compassion to address their fears, concerns, and questions. This role is a perfect starting point to launch a healthcare career, as R1 will provide all necessary training. You must be up to date on all vaccinations, pass a drug test, and pass a background check before hire. You will be working on computers and answering phones in a busy, high-volume, stressful hospital environment, often across multiple screens and programs, inputting details correctly between physician and nurse check-ins. You will also work around clinicians interrupting the registration process for emergent clinical care. You will assist people who may be very ill or worried, needing you to listen carefully to ease their anxiety, ask follow-up questions, and build rapport in real time. This is a fast-paced work environment where you will be on your feet assisting patients with registration. While collecting patient and insurance information may seem straightforward, there is a lot of variation in health plans and coverage that will require knowledge through training. You must work quickly and expect the unexpected; this is not a casual desk job. R1 RCM Inc. is dedicated to equal employment opportunity and providing a workplace free from harassment.
