About The Position

The Customer Service I position involves assisting customers with sales and service across all departments, maintaining a basic knowledge of hardware, electrical, plumbing, and paint. This role requires proficiency in general computer software, specifically 'Epicor', and involves duties such as cutting keys, cutting glass, determining pricing, and acting as a backup cashier. The position also includes managing inventory, printing bin tags, arranging signage, processing overstock, stocking and fronting merchandise, and assembling/displaying merchandise. Additionally, the role requires proficiency with equipment and products in the lumber and paint departments, refilling CO2 cylinders, handling propane cylinders, and responding to customer service calls and internal radio communications. The employee must be able to work with limited supervision and contribute to a positive and safe work environment. This role is under the immediate supervision of Shift Manager(s).

Requirements

  • Possess a basic knowledge of hardware, electrical, plumbing, paint.
  • Proficiency in general computer software.
  • Proficiency in basic computer and software skills such as Windows XP.
  • Proficient in cutting keys, cutting glass and determining pricing.
  • Knowledge of inventory and pricing structure.
  • Physically able to safely lift up to 95 lbs.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to stay focused on tasks and be project oriented for the purpose of their completion.
  • Must be over 18 years of age (for forklift certification).

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in 'Epicor' software.
  • Obtain certification for operation of forklift and as required, other materials handling equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist customers with sales and service within all departments.
  • Cut keys and cut glass.
  • Determine pricing.
  • Act as a backup cashier, as needed.
  • Manage inventory and pricing structure.
  • Print bin tags and maintain/arrange signage.
  • Process overstock storewide.
  • Stock and front merchandise as per company guidelines.
  • Assemble and display merchandise.
  • Operate equipment and assist customers/staff within lumber and paint departments.
  • Refill CO2 cylinders and handle propane cylinders.
  • Respond to and answer customer service calls.
  • Operate a two-way radio for internal communication and service requests.
  • Maintain assigned aisle(s) and area(s) as outlined within the store’s policy on Aisle Maintenance & Guidelines.
  • Contribute to a safe, positively stimulating, motivating environment that encourages harmony.
