Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis processors. The role involves preparing the autopheresis machine, monitoring the donor and the pheresis process, responding to alarms, and disconnecting the donor when the process is complete. The technician must maintain alertness to any donor reactions and notify appropriate staff. They will use a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents, link equipment, and record donor data in the electronic donor information management system. The role also includes maintaining a clean work environment, ensuring sufficient supplies, and following all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures. Confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information is essential. Bilingual skills may be required, and the technician may be cross-trained in other areas.
