About The Position

This role involves customer service and cashier duties, primarily focusing on weekend availability. The position requires handling cash, operating a point-of-sale system, performing opening and closing procedures, cleaning, merchandising, restocking, organizing displays, and conducting inventory counts. A significant part of the role includes engaging with customers, providing recommendations for local attractions and events, and building knowledge about local partners, products, artists, and city offerings.

Requirements

Availability on some or all weekend days is mandatory.
Ability to work shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, typically from 10 am to 6 pm.
Willingness to work shorter shifts (e.g., 10 am-2 pm, 2 pm-6 pm, 11 am-5 pm) is acceptable.
Flexibility in scheduling is possible, but weekend availability is essential.
Willingness to work additional hours, sometimes required, outside of regular hours for special events at Lucas Oil Stadium, Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and the Indiana Convention Center.

Responsibilities

Perform opening procedures (starting at 9:45 am).
Perform closing procedures (ending at 6:15 pm).
Handle cash transactions.
Process sales using the Lightspeed point-of-sale system.
Maintain cleanliness of the work area.
Engage in merchandising, restocking, organizing, and updating product displays.
Conduct inventory counts.
Engage in extensive customer interaction, providing recommendations for restaurants, local attractions, and events.
Develop knowledge of local attraction partners such as The Children's Museum of Indianapolis, Eiteljorg Museum, Indiana Historical Society, Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, Indianapolis Zoo, Conner Prairie, Newfields, and Indiana State Museum.
Acquire knowledge about the products carried and the artists represented.
Stay informed about current city offerings, seasonal events, attractions, and upcoming events hosted by Visit Indy and ICCLOS.
