About The Position

The Customer Service Associate welcomes customers to Lowe’s, helps them find products and services for home improvement needs, and provides friendly, professional support throughout their shopping experience. Associates work in a department assigned according to store hiring needs and their skillsets. Possible departments include Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Live Nursery, Inside Garden, Hardware, Tools, Millwork, Building Materials, Plumbing, Electrical, Paint, Home Décor, Tool Rental, and Pro Services. The role involves listening to customers, answering questions, locating and selecting merchandise, assisting with shopping or checkout, organizing and replenishing merchandise, and occasionally loading products. Department-specific work may include preparing merchandise such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds. Associates may cross-train in other store areas. The work may involve indoor and outdoor conditions, varied climates, noise, and moving equipment or objects. Travel is not regularly required, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may occur.

Requirements

At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform the job.
Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
Follow lifting guidelines that limit single lifts to 75 pounds; team lifts are used minimally starting at 75 pounds or when needed.
Use powered equipment as required, with proper training or assistance from a trained coworker.

Nice To Haves

At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
Bilingual skills.
Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.

Responsibilities

Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
Help customers locate, handle, and select merchandise and services for their home improvement needs.
Down stock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
Cross-functionally train in other store areas to help deliver customer service.
Prepare merchandise according to customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds.
Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
Occasionally load merchandise.
Complete other duties as assigned.
