About The Position

The Customer Service Associate welcomes customers to Lowe’s and helps them find products and services for home improvement needs. Associates listen to customers, answer questions, help locate and select merchandise, and guide customers through shopping or checkout. They may occasionally load merchandise and organize and replenish products. Department assignment depends on hiring needs and skillsets and may include Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Live Nursery, Inside Garden, Hardware, Tools, Millwork, Building Materials, Plumbing, Electrical, Paint, Home Décor, Tool Rental, or Pro Services. Department-specific tasks may include tinting and mixing paint; cutting and threading pipe; cutting and bundling wood; cutting drywall; or cutting blinds. The role requires customer service, accurate order and delivery processing, and cross-functional training in other store areas. Work may involve prolonged standing or sitting, lifting merchandise, and working in both indoor and outdoor conditions with varying climates, noise, and moving equipment. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed.

Requirements

At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities needed to perform the job.
Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
Follow lifting guidelines that limit single lifts to 75 pounds; team lifts are used minimally starting at 75 pounds or when needed.
Use powered equipment as required, with proper training or assistance from a trained coworker.

Nice To Haves

At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
Bilingual skills.
Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.

Responsibilities

Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
Help customers locate and handle merchandise.
Downstock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive expected merchandise on time.
Cross-functionally train in other store areas to help provide customer service.
Prepare merchandise according to customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds.
Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
Perform other duties as assigned.
