About The Position

The Customer Service Associate welcomes customers to Lowe’s and helps them find appropriate products and services for home improvement projects. The role focuses on listening to customers, answering questions, helping them locate and select merchandise, and ensuring their needs are met. Associates may occasionally load merchandise and organize or replenish products. Department assignments depend on hiring needs and skillsets and may include Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Live Nursery, Inside Garden, Hardware, Tools, Millwork, Building Materials, Plumbing, Electrical, Paint, Home Décor, Tool Rental, or Pro Services. Department-specific tasks may include tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds. Associates may cross-train in other store areas. The role does not require regular travel, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed. Working conditions vary by location and can include indoor and outdoor weather, extreme temperatures, wet or humid conditions, noise, and moving or shaking objects and equipment. Lifting practices vary by role, weight, and volume; single lifts are limited to 75 pounds, with team lifts used minimally starting at 75 pounds or when needed. Powered equipment must be used as required with proper training or assistance from a trained coworker.

Requirements

At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform the job.
Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted or more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.

Nice To Haves

At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
Bilingual skills.
Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.

Responsibilities

Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
Help customers locate and handle merchandise.
Down-stock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
Cross-functionally train in other store areas to help deliver customer service.
Prepare merchandise based on customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds.
Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
Occasionally load merchandise.
Complete other duties as assigned.
