About The Position

The Customer Service Associate welcomes customers to Lowe’s and helps them find the products and services they need for home improvement projects. The role centers on listening to customers, answering questions, helping them locate and select merchandise, and providing friendly, professional service. Associates may occasionally load merchandise and help customers through shopping or checkout.

Associates work in a department determined by store hiring needs and their skillsets. Departments include Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Live Nursery, Inside Garden, Hardware, Tools, Millwork, Building Materials, Plumbing, Electrical, Paint, Home Décor, Tool Rental, and Pro Services. Responsibilities can vary by department and may include preparing merchandise to meet customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds.

The position involves organizing and replenishing merchandise, accurately processing orders and deliveries, and cross-training in other store areas. Work may take place indoors or outdoors and may involve changing weather, noise, and moving or shaking objects and equipment. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed.

Requirements

• At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
• At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
• Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary for the job.
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or over 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
• Follow lifting guidelines that limit single lifts to 75 pounds; team lifts are used minimally starting at 75 pounds or when needed.
• Use powered equipment as required, with proper training or assistance from a trained coworker.

Nice To Haves

• At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
• Bilingual skills.
• Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.

Responsibilities

• Occasionally load merchandise.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
