About The Position
The Customer Service Associate welcomes customers to Lowe’s and helps them find the products and services they need for home improvement projects. The role focuses on attentive, friendly service, answering questions, helping customers locate and select merchandise, and ensuring customer needs are met. Associates may occasionally load merchandise and organize or replenish products. Daily duties vary by department and may include preparing merchandise to meet customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds. Associates may be assigned to departments including Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Live Nursery, Inside Garden, Hardware, Tools, Millwork, Building Materials, Plumbing, Electrical, Paint, Home Décor, Tool Rental, or Pro Services. The role may involve occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores. Work may take place indoors or outdoors in varying weather and climate conditions, with possible exposure to noise and moving or shaking objects and equipment. Associates follow lifting guidelines, use team lifts when needed, and use powered equipment only as required and with proper training or assistance.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform the job.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or over 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
- Follow lifting guidelines limiting single lifts to 75 pounds; use team lifts minimally starting at 75 pounds or when needed.
- Use powered equipment as required, with proper training or assistance from a trained coworker.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bilingual skills.
- Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.
- Military or veteran background.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Help customers locate and handle merchandise.
- Down-stock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
- Accurately process orders and deliveries so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
- Cross-functionally train in other areas of the store to help deliver customer service.
- Prepare merchandise for customers' needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds.
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
