About The Position

As a Customer Service Associate at Lowe’s, you welcome customers and help them find products and services for their home improvement needs. You listen to customers, answer questions, assist with product selection and merchandise handling, and help ensure their needs are met. Work is assigned to a department based on hiring needs and skillsets, with possible assignments in appliances, cabinets, flooring, live nursery, inside garden, hardware, tools, millwork, building materials, plumbing, electrical, paint, home décor, tool rental, or Pro Services. Daily responsibilities can vary by department. The role may involve working indoors and outdoors in changing weather conditions, exposure to noise and moving or shaking objects and equipment, and occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores. Pay is $16.00–$17.95 per hour; starting pay may vary based on factors such as position, location, education, training, and experience.

Requirements

• At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
• At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
• Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary for the job.
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or over 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
• Follow lifting guidelines limiting single lifts to 75 pounds; team lifts are used minimally starting at 75 pounds or when needed.
• Use powered equipment as required, with proper training or assistance from a trained coworker.

Nice To Haves

• At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
• Bilingual skills.
• A certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
• Help customers locate and handle merchandise.
• Down-stock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
• Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive expected merchandise on time.
• Cross-train in other store areas to help provide customer service.
• Prepare merchandise to meet customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds.
• Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
