About The Position

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA) is seeking a Customer Service Assistant 1 to join the Division of Air Pollution Control (DAPC) at its Mobile Sources E-Check Field Office in Summit County. In this role, you will provide essential customer service support for the division’s Mobile Sources program. This includes answering telephones, providing basic information to internal and external customers, and managing inquiries received in writing or by phone. You will operate a personal computer for data entry, updates, corrections, and sending reports. Additionally, you will gather customer demographic information, understand their concerns, and clarify expectations by interviewing them and inputting this data into a customer service database. The position also involves performing various office support tasks such as distributing mail, filing, faxing, proofreading, and preparing purchase orders. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with environmental laws and protecting public health.

Requirements

  • 3 months of training or 3 months of experience in office practices and procedures.
  • 1 course or 3 months of experience in public relations or customer service, including techniques for dealing with difficult people.
  • 1 course or 3 months of experience in typing, keyboarding, data entry, or word processing.
  • 1 course or 3 months of experience in the operation of a personal computer.
  • Official educational transcripts are required for post-high school educational accomplishments, coursework, or degrees claimed on the application.
  • Applicants will be required to submit an official transcript if they are selected for the position.
  • Current Ohio EPA employees may be required to provide official educational transcripts.
  • A criminal background check will be conducted on the final candidate selected for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service support for DAPC’s Mobile Sources program.

  • Perform office support tasks like distributing mail and documents, filing, faxing, proofreading, and preparing purchase orders.
