About The Position

This position involves managing technical activities such as analyzing service requests, designing and drafting work orders, estimating and requesting construction materials and equipment, and maintaining mapping systems. The supervisor will provide leadership and technical services direction to establish a high-performing engineering design team. Key aspects include ensuring the contribution of all employees within the Distribution Design group by maintaining close involvement and listening to their ideas, needs, and recommendations. The role also requires fostering a customer-focused attitude among employees, conveying a thorough understanding of customer expectations, and instilling the importance of achieving superior customer satisfaction. Additionally, the supervisor will monitor design, material, and work progress on department projects to control costs within estimated budgets and ensure compliance with codes, standards, and schedules. Coordination with other departments to maintain accurate maps of the distribution system, developing employee skills and knowledge, and promoting and assuring standard compliance are also critical functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline, and minimum of 5 years' experience in the design of power system electrical distribution facilities or other related experience.
  • Associate's degree in electrical/electronic technology or related discipline, and minimum of 7 years' experience in the design of distribution facilities.
  • High school diploma or GED with 9 years of experience in the design of distribution facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that each employee maintains a customer focused attitude by conveying a thorough understanding of customer expectations and instill the importance of achieving superior customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor design, material and work progress on department projects to control costs within estimated budget and to ensure codes, standards and schedules are met.
  • Coordinate with other departments to maintain accurate maps of the distribution system.
  • Develop employee skills/knowledge.
  • Promotes and assures standard compliance.
