Customer Delivery Driver

Sainsbury's•Leicester, MA

About The Position

As a Customer Delivery Driver, you represent Sainsbury’s at customers’ doorsteps and provide a friendly, helpful delivery experience. You drive a 3.5-tonne refrigerated van to deliver groceries on time and in good condition, while ensuring the vehicle is roadworthy, clean and organised and that orders are secure before departure. You follow planned routes and drive safely in varied locations and conditions. The role includes moving shopping containers weighing up to 15kg and delivering to a range of properties, which may involve steps, lifts or longer walks from the van. You keep customers informed about delays, respond to queries and handle changes to orders. When not making deliveries, you may support the store as needed. This store-based role involves working independently on the road and as part of the wider store team. Both permanent and fixed-term vacancies are available; applicants are asked to check the contract type for the particular vacancy. The job requires applicants to be over 18, hold a full UK/EU driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than six points, and have the right to work in the UK. An online driving risk assessment is part of the interview process, and successful applicants complete a driving assessment when they join. Sainsbury’s uses in-cab AI cameras to monitor driver behaviour and support compliance with road laws and defensive-driving standards.
