About The Position

This position includes duties as a Customer Access Representative and a Medical Assistant II. As a Customer Access Representative, it provides receptionist duties for the center and performs a variety of clerical duties including patient appointments and registration, management of patient flow, billing, and payment collections. As a Medical Assistant II, it assists the professional and para-professional staff in rendering health care. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Six months experience in healthcare setting OR one year administrative and/or customer service background.
  • Computer experience required; ability to work with Windows-based programs strongly preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program; OR successful completion of the internal PMS Medical Assistant II training and assessment program.
  • Must be deemed competent in phlebotomy at time of hire.
  • If assigned to the Checkerboard Area Health System, this position requires successful completion of an initial post-offer of employment Criminal Records Check.
  • This position requires successful completion of an initial post-offer of employment: According to PMS Human Resources Policy 205.006, “Healthcare Personnel Testing & Immunization Requirements,” this position must comply with required testing and immunizations.
  • May be required to use personal transportation to carry out job duties.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
  • Must provide a current motor vehicle record.
  • Must provide current personal owner liability automobile insurance and must maintain the insurance coverage throughout the course of employment in this position.
  • Must submit to a motor vehicle record check on an as needed basis and maintain a satisfactory driving record that is within the limitations of PMS Human Resources Policy II.D.3, Automobile Usage, and applicable state and federal laws.
  • Must comply with PMS Policies on Automobile Usage, II.D.3, Drug Free Workplace, III.H and applicable state and federal laws.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or training in customer service industry preferred.
  • Experience in medical billing preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish / English or Navajo / English preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of nursing aide duties preferred.
  • Ability to speak Spanish or Navajo desired.
