About The Position

Crown Packaging is seeking a Custom Crate Lead to direct and assist Crater-Packers in building packaging wood and fiber wrap containers using power tools and saws. The Lead will assist the supervisor in training new Crater Packers, ensure compliance with packaging materials and products according to written work instructions and best practice visuals, and operate the overhead crane in accordance with safe operating procedures. This role requires adherence to all safety and health rules, prompt reporting of hazards and injuries, and consistent demonstration of high-level carpentry skills. The Lead will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the wood shop, understanding quality processes, and performing work accurately and timely to meet order completion deadlines. Required start-up or end-of-shift procedures must also be performed.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and assist Crater-Packers building packaging wood and fiber wrap containers using power tools and saws.
  • Assist assigned supervisor in training Crater Packers to assemble wood and fiber wrap builds.
  • Ensure compliance of packaging materials and products are in accordance with written work instructions and best practice visuals.
  • Operate the overhead crane and assist the supervisor in ensuring it is being operated in accordance with safe operating procedures.
  • Demonstrate high carpentry skills by building shipping containers and packaging crates using various tools, nail guns, power drills and power saws (i.e., Panel Saw, Horizontal Band Saw, Miter Saw, and Cabinet Table Saw).
  • Ensure all work instructions and best practices are utilized on all crate and fiber wrap builds.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the wood shop and surrounding areas are maintained.
  • Demonstrate a working understanding of the quality processes.
  • Perform work timely and accurately.
  • Maintain pace to ensure orders will be completed on time and accurately.
  • Perform required start up or end of shift procedures.
