About The Position

CenterPoint is seeking a skilled Custom Cabinet Painter to join their production team. This role is responsible for preparing, finishing, painting, and quality checking exhibit components and crates to meet customer expectations and quality standards. The painter will also coordinate workflow in the paint shop, prioritize tasks, order supplies, and collaborate with production and project managers to create exceptional trade show booths and exhibits.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in painting, finishing, cabinetry, manufacturing, or related field is required.
  • Strong knowledge of surface preparation, painting, staining, and finishing techniques.
  • Ability to safely operate spray equipment and other finishing tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to mix and match colors and maintain consistent finish quality.
  • Detail oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Demonstrate clear and effective communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem solving skills.
  • Prolonged periods working on feet.
  • Frequent stooping, bending, and operation of hand tools.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at a time.

Nice To Haves

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Technical Degree OR completion of related apprenticeship program is beneficial but not required.
  • Tradeshow industry experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand shop drawings, production drawings, finish schedules, and project specifications to complete assigned finishing work.
  • Prepare materials for painting and finishing through sanding, filling, masking, cleaning, and priming.
  • Apply paint, stain, clear coat, and other finishes using spray equipment and appropriate finishing techniques.
  • Mix and match paints and stains to achieve specified colors, samples, and finish standards.
  • Inspect completed work and perform necessary touch-ups to ensure consistency, quality, and appearance.
  • Coordinate daily paint department workload and priorities to support production schedules and project deadlines.
  • Communicate finish concerns, rework needs, material requirements, and schedule impacts to Production Management and other appropriate team members.
  • Monitor paint and finishing supply inventory and coordinate ordering to ensure materials are available to meet production needs.
  • Maintain paint booths, equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
  • Troubleshoot finish, adhesion, color matching, equipment, and other paint-related issues as they arise.
  • Adhere to production estimates to manage time effectively and complete assigned work within established timelines.
  • Consistently demonstrate the ability to work with others in a team environment and take direction.
  • Continuously develop and refine knowledge of the tradeshow industry and CenterPoint standards.
