About The Position

We are seeking a highly experienced Custody Lead - Software Engineering to join our team. This role is crucial for leading the design, development, and maintenance of our custody platform, which is responsible for securing user assets across our exchange, wallet, and browser extension. The ideal candidate will define and enforce security best practices, threat models, and compliance requirements for all custody-related services. You will collaborate with product, compliance, and ops teams to translate business and regulatory requirements into technical specifications. This position also involves mentoring and guiding a growing engineering team, fostering a culture of code quality, continuous improvement, and rapid delivery. You will own the end-to-end lifecycle of custody features, from prototype through production, including performance tuning, monitoring, and incident response. Driving automation of testing, deployment, and security scanning pipelines is key to ensuring robust, repeatable releases. Additionally, you will represent the engineering team in external audits and regulatory reviews, providing detailed technical evidence and documentation. Staying current with the evolving crypto landscape, emerging threats, and industry standards is essential to continuously enhance platform security.

Requirements

  • Custody experience is a MUST
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2 years leading or owning critical security‑focused services.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Go, Rust, Java, or C++) and deep understanding of system‑level programming.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cryptographic primitives, key management, and secure storage solutions.
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Solid knowledge of compliance frameworks relevant to crypto (e.g., AML, KYC, GDPR, FCA, MiFID II).
  • Proven track record of building, scaling, and operating high‑availability, low‑latency services.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the cryptocurrency or fintech industry, particularly with custodial solutions or exchange infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with hardware security modules (HSMs), multi‑party computation (MPC), and threshold signatures.
  • Background in security engineering, penetration testing, or incident response.
  • Contributions to open‑source security or blockchain projects.
  • Experience leading distributed, remote engineering teams.
