About The Position

This position serves as a member of our custodial team in our Building and Grounds division. This position will provide custodial services to maintain clean and safe county facilities. Duties require cleaning of all assigned areas, which may include, cleaning and disinfecting building areas, bathrooms, and drinking fountains; emptying trash located inside buildings and transporting trash to dumpster; dry and wet mopping and vacuuming floors; dusting and spot cleaning walls and doors in high and low areas; restocking bathroom supplies; cleaning and polishing furniture; cleaning interior windows and interior/exterior doorway windows; and other work as required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Six months of experience in custodial work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to perform physically demanding work including, but not limited to, walking up and down stairs, standing for prolonged periods, squatting, stooping, bending, twisting, stretching, crawling, and reaching overhead
Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required
Records must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months (based on Virginia DMV point system)
Out-of-state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview
Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required
Successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check (due to CJIS Security Policy)
