About The Position

The Custodian plays a pivotal role in driving CRJ’s mission. The Custodian is an essential member of our school community, playing a pivotal role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. By ensuring that all facilities are well-kept, custodians contribute to the overall high school experience, fostering an atmosphere conducive to learning and personal growth. Their diligent work not only enhances the school's aesthetic appeal but also supports the daily operations, allowing educators to focus on delivering quality instruction and students to engage in their educational pursuits.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous custodial or janitorial experience in a school or similar environment is a plus.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
Physical stamina to perform manual labor and lift light objects.
Knowledge of cleaning supplies and equipment is a plus.
Basic handyman skills preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas to ensure a sanitary and inviting environment.
Carry out all janitorial tasks as assigned to maintain school cleanliness and hygiene standards.
Conduct regular inspections of school facilities and report any maintenance needs, such as plumbing issues, broken fixtures, or safety hazards.
Manage waste disposal and recycling processes, ensuring compliance with environmental standards and promoting sustainability within the school.
Assist with the setup and breakdown of school events, including sporting activities, assemblies, and parent-teacher meetings, ensuring all areas are prepared and clean.
Handle deliveries throughout the school building, involving light lifting as necessary.
Follow safety procedures and protocols while using cleaning chemicals and equipment, ensuring compliance with health regulations and contributing to a safe environment for all.
Be available to work during snow days, storms, and emergencies to maintain school operations.
Provide assistance with small handyman tasks, such as putting items together, hanging decorations, or making minor repairs.
Work closely with school administrators, teachers, and other staff to address specific cleaning needs and participate in team efforts to improve the school's facilities.
Performs additional duties as requested.
