About The Position
The Custodian position at Forest Heights STEM Academy is responsible for maintaining the facility and grounds in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness, and safety to ensure the full educational use of the facility at all times. This role supports the vision and mission of the academy by working collaboratively to create a positive, safe, and kid-friendly learning environment. The position requires a strong work ethic, a passion for creativity, and an open mind to new ideas. The custodian will be responsible for the cleanliness and safety of assigned areas, assisting with the maintenance of the entire building and grounds, performing yard work, cleaning windows, maintaining floors and baseboards, and ensuring a sanitary cafeteria in cooperation with cafeteria staff. The role operates under the instructions of the head custodian or their designee and may perform other assigned duties.

- Ability to deal courteously with the public and maintain working relations with staff members.
- Dependable and able to assume responsibility.
- Good physical health.
- Neat and clean in appearance.
- Ability to care for tools and materials.
- Ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period.
- Ability to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year.

- Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
Responsibilities

- Assist others in maintaining the entire building and grounds.
- Perform yard work as assigned.
- Clean windows.
- Maintain floors, baseboards, etc., to an acceptable standard.
- Maintain a sanitary cafeteria in cooperation with the cafeteria staff.
- Follow the instructions of the head custodian or his/her designee.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the head custodian.
