About The Position

Responsible for the cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and security of assigned work areas. Work may be at assigned building(s) or on assigned specialty crews as directed.

Requirements

Must have a minimum of two years custodial experience.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Medic First Aid Card.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed, but basic, written or oral instructions in English.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisor(s), staff, students, parents and community.
Frequently required to walk and may be continuously required to stand.
Will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing the duties of this job.
Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Continuously uses hand strength to push, pull and grasp tools.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to climb and work on ladders.

Nice To Haves

Ability to communicate with Spanish speaking students and adults preferred.
Knowledge of cleaning chemical safety and use, experience with floor finishing and waxing.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of custodial duties as directed, including cleaning and minor maintenance and repair.
Make reports of maintenance and repair needs to the building principal and Maintenance Supervisor as required.
Lock and secure doors, windows, and turn off lights.
Report fire and safety hazards and emergency maintenance concerns to the building principal and Maintenance Supervisor.
Dress, speak, and act in a responsible manner with respect to the job assignment.
Handle hazardous wastes and chemicals according to laws, district procedures, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Monitor inventories or required supplies and coordinate as directed to assure adequate quantities are on hand to perform assigned duties.
Facilitate pre-approved after-hour uses of facilities.
Keep outside walkways free from leaves and debris.
Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment.
Ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds in English, Spanish, or other languages related to the job.
Ability to work harmoniously with others.
Perform other duties as assigned.
