About The Position

The Custodian position is a full-time role within the Facilities Department, classified as Non-Exempt. The work schedule is Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with Tuesdays and Wednesdays off. The role is located on campus. The Custodian is responsible for a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure the upkeep of campus facilities. This includes floor care, restroom and shower cleaning, general cleaning of surfaces and fixtures, trash and recycling collection, and basic maintenance support such as snow removal and light bulb replacement. The position also involves assisting with staff shortages, event setups, and moving furniture or equipment. Professional development and a commitment to diversity and inclusion are expected. Basic computer skills or willingness to learn are also required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Stable work history
  • Basic skills in using standard office equipment and computer applications, including email, word processing, spreadsheet, and database, or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Sweep, dust, mop, auto scrub, wax, and polish floors.
  • Vacuum carpets and perform carpet extraction.
  • Clean and disinfect sinks, toilets, urinals, and showers.
  • Sweep and mop restroom floors.
  • Restock soap, hand towels, and toilet paper.
  • Clean horizontal and vertical surfaces.
  • Clean glass, walls, woodwork, vents, and light fixtures.
  • Clean windowsills, desktops, and classroom boards.
  • Collect trash and recycling and place in designated outside containers.
  • Clean all indoor trash and recycling bins.
  • Remove snow from building entrances, sidewalks, and steps.
  • Unclog sink and toilet drains.
  • Replace light bulbs.
  • Report items needing repair.
  • Assist in buildings with staff shortages.
  • Complete set-ups for events.
  • Move furniture, supplies, and equipment as needed.
  • Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
