Custodian
About The Position
This role involves comprehensive custodial and groundskeeping responsibilities to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of the facility. The Custodian will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing various areas within the building, including offices, restrooms, dining areas, and dorms. They will also perform routine maintenance tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting. Additionally, the role includes setting up and breaking down rooms for events, assisting with furniture and equipment movement, and responding to emergency clean-up needs. The groundskeeping aspect involves maintaining lawns, landscaping, and outdoor areas, including litter removal and seasonal tasks like snow removal. Reporting maintenance issues and safety hazards is also a key part of the job.

Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize offices, restrooms/showers, dining areas, laundry areas, common spaces, and shelter dorm areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and surfaces.
- Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly.
- Clean windows, doors, walls, and other building surfaces.
- Restock restroom and janitorial supplies.
- Follow cleaning schedules and infection control protocols.
- Operate floor scrubbers, carpet extractors, buffers, and other custodial equipment.
- Daily setup of seating and dining area at our Day Service Center.
- Set up and break down rooms for meetings, trainings, and special events.
- Assist with moving furniture and equipment.
- Plunge or snake toilets/drains as needed.
- Support emergency clean-up following weather events or other facility incidents.
- Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, and damaged equipment promptly.
- Maintain lawns, landscaping, flower beds, shrubs, and trees.
- Mow, edge, trim, weed, mulch, and water landscaped areas.
- Remove litter and debris from parking lots, sidewalks, courtyards, and outdoor spaces.
- Perform seasonal grounds maintenance including leaf removal and snow/ice treatment when applicable.
- Clean exterior entrances, walkways, loading docks, and outdoor gathering areas.
- Assist with beautification projects to improve curb appeal.
