About The Position

This is a temp-to-perm position where the Custodian will be responsible for ensuring all school areas are kept very clean and in proper working order. The role involves cleaning assigned school district facilities such as classrooms, offices, gyms, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, pools, and grounds to maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment. The Custodian will also assist Administration with fixing, installing, and maintaining various equipment and materials, follow a maintenance/custodial checklist for daily duties, and ensure the confidentiality of all information regarding employees, staff, and students. Additionally, the role requires addressing staff and student needs, staying current with school security policies and procedures, and participating in teamwork. Recommendations for improving methods, performance, and quality are encouraged. The Custodian will also arrange furnishings and equipment for meetings, classroom activities, and events, and attend in-service training on topics like blood-borne pathogens, cleaning solvents, floor care, and first aid.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently, without constant supervision to get tasks accomplished in a timely manner.
  • Ability to pass all required backgrounds checks.
  • Experience and knowledge of general cleaning supplies and best practices.
  • Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit can be met.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years experience in a school setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Address staff and student needs and issues as they arise.
  • Keep current with school security policies and procedures.
  • Participate with other staff in promoting good teamwork.
  • Recommend measures to improve methods, performance and quality of product or service.
  • Arranges furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparation for meetings, classroom activities, and events.
  • Attends in-service training (e.g., instruction on blood-borne pathogens, cleaning solvents, floor care, first aid, etc.) for the purpose of receiving information on new and/or improved procedures.
